泰戈爾的詩:Freedom 《自由》

導語：儘管泰戈爾也受到西方哲學思潮的影響，但他的思想的基調，還是印度古代從《梨俱吠陀》一直到奧義書和吠檀多的類似泛神論的思想。

Freedom from fear is the freedom

I claim for you my motherland!

擺脫恐懼是我向您、我的祖國

所要索取的自由!

Freedom from the burden of the ages,

bending your head,

breaking your back,

blinding your eyes to the beckoning

call of the future;

不顧年齡的限制，

彎下你的頭，

折斷你的背,

望穿了你的眼睛，

呼喚著令人心動的將來;

Freedom from the shackles of slumber wherewith

you fasten yourself in night's stillness,

mistrusting the star

that speaks of truth's adventurous paths;

撬開那把自己捆綁在黑夜寂靜中

而麻木不堪的腳鐐手銬，

不相信明星為你所指引的

充滿艱險的真理道路;

freedom from the anarchy of destiny

whole sails are weakly yielded to the blind uncertain winds,

and the helm to a hand ever rigid and cold as death.

不去聽從無序命運的.擺佈，

整個航程無力地屈從於盲目不確定的風向，

手裡的駕駛盤永遠像死亡那樣僵硬、冰冷。

Freedom from the insult of dwelling in a puppet's world,

where movements are started through brainless wires,

repeated through mindless habits,

Where figures wait with patience and obedience for themaster of show,

to be stirred into a mimicry of life.

擺脫駐留在傀儡世界裡所受到的屈辱，

無頭腦的電線已經開始了運作，

反覆地通過不動腦筋的習慣動作，

人物正在耐心和順從地等待著主人的炫耀，

他們將被糾纏進偽裝的生活。

拉賓德拉納特·泰戈爾(1861年—1941年)，印度詩人、文學家、社會活動家、哲學家和印度民族主義者。代表作有《吉檀迦利》、《飛鳥集》、《眼中沙》、《四個人》、《家庭與世界》、《園丁集》、《新月集》、《最後的詩篇》、《戈拉》、《文明的危機》等。

1861年5月7日，拉賓德拉納特·泰戈爾出生於印度加爾各答一個富有的貴族家庭，13歲即能創作長詩和頌歌體詩集。1878年赴英國留學，1880年回國專門從事文學活動。1884至1911年擔任梵 社祕書，20年代創辦國際大學。1913年，他以《吉檀迦利》成為第一位獲得諾貝爾文學獎的亞洲人。1941年寫作控訴英國殖民統治和相信祖國必將獲得獨立解放的遺言《文明的危機》。
